Bring Gaza Home is an organization made of Palestinian and Jewish people that advocate for the Right of Return of Palestinians to their homes.

After setting up the brand, the content, the social media presence, Design Reparations co-create a speculative and participatory design experience for Dutch Design Week which became Gaza Travel Agency.

Gaza Travel Agency is inspired by historian Dr. Salman Abu Sitta’s practical plans for the return of Palestinian refugees. It invites visitors to visualise, not debate, the routes, possibilities, and emotions of return. Since 1948, over 80% of the Gazan population have been refugees, 50% of them are children. They were displaced from villages and towns, most of which, according to recent official data, are still empty on Israeli territory.

We believe in the power of design to address complex topics and shift narratives. This work aims to transform politics and despair into imagination and designed possibilities, from chaos and hopelessness to a simple journey, a journey into designing peace.

International law and multiple UN resolutions state the right of return for Palestinian refugees. Through design, we aim to make the abstract idea of return tangible, relatable, and as simple as “taking a bus home”. The idea of Palestinians returning to their original towns- is actively censored and this work is to put it back as a mainstream solution.

At the Dutch Design Week (DDW)

At the 2025 edition of Dutch Design Week we presented for the first time the Gaza Travel Agency concept - a fictional travel agency that lets visitors “book” trips to destinations in historic Palestine.

Our planning for this event began last summer, and then we saw the project  grow organically. Over the course of the DD week we involved 28  volunteers, who took turns acting as stewards and introducing visitors to the agency concept.

We received generous help from printing studios that produced the  exhibition materials, from the MU Gallery that provided the exhibition  space, and from many other members of our support network.

We  were relieved to secure enough donations to cover all exhibition  expenses - and even to reinvest in future initiatives. Most importantly,  nearly 6,400 visitors  came in that week, sharing with us the journey of return, embracing our  vision, and often contributing their own stories.

What we’d like to do next

After this extraordinary start at the DDW, we are coming up with different  ways of taking the GTA to other events and locations across the  Netherlands. We asked ourselves how we could make the agency travel  faster and lighter, while preserving core elements - especially  storytelling and personal interactions - that are essential to any  iteration. Our first post‑DDW experiment took place in December at “A  Day in Palestine” in Amsterdam (Tolhuistuin). That event showed us that a  simpler setup can also work, provided we introduce the concept with the  right stories and images.

For  2026 our aim is to run a mix of smaller and larger events/installations  in partnership with various local organisations across the Netherlands.  Overall, we want to keep raising awareness of the Palestinian right of return among non‑specialist audiences, making the topic as approachable  as possible. We will continue to provide images and stories that spark  the imagination of alternative, just and hopeful futures for the people  of Gaza and for all of Palestine.

The journey so far...

Stewarding Gaza Travel Agency at Dutch Design Week 2025

It’s a pleasant Sunday in Eindhoven. Dutch Design Week 2025 has started and people are strolling, walking, someone marching in the impossible task of seeing everything that is presented this year. The map listing all Dutch Design Week locations is overwhelming, every little corner hosts another exhibition, and one needs to decide in a second whether this place is worth their time and attention. With this mix of curiosity, tiredness, anticipation and skepticism people approach our container,...
